Language Teachers
Ages: 19+
Camp Suisse is looking for inspirational and passionate language teachers to join our international team in the stunning Swiss Alps this summer. We are currently recruiting teachers of English, French, Spanish, and German to deliver fun, interactive, and meaningful language classes to our campers. As a Language Teacher, you’ll be responsible for delivering the Camp Suisse language programme in a way that sparks enthusiasm, builds confidence, and supports real progress.
If you’re an engaging, professional teacher who loves working with young people and brings energy both inside and outside the classroom, this could be the perfect summer adventure for you.
Location: The role is predominantly based at our main camp in Les Crosets, a stunning but remote mountain village in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, Les Crosets offers the perfect environment for us to operate our camp, but has minimal local facilities in the summer. We also run camps in alternative locations, so you may be required to relocate for short periods to deliver your role elsewhere throughout the season.
Key Duties:
1. Communication & Camper Support
- Build positive relationships with campers to help them feel comfortable and confident using the target language.
- Provide feedback and encouragement to learners of all levels, helping them to improve their practical language skills.
- Communicate clearly and supportively with campers, fellow teachers, and the wider Camp Suisse team.
- Be approachable and engaging in both classroom and informal settings, acting as a role model and mentor.
- Support campers in developing confidence and curiosity in their target language beyond the classroom.
2. Language Teaching & Classroom Management
- Deliver high-quality, interactive lessons following the Camp Suisse foreign language programme, tailored to a range of ages and abilities.
- Personalise lessons using a variety of activities, games, and resources (materials provided) to ensure classes are lively, engaging, and fun.
- Take responsibility for a designated classroom space and manage all teaching equipment and resources.
- Track camper progress and ensure measurable improvement, particularly in practical usage and confidence.
- Support campers in using their language skills during excursions and activities when possible.
- For teachers on a combined contract: lead afternoon activities and excursions as a Group Leader (see separate Group Leader description).
3. Participation & Teamwork
- Be an active and professional member of the Language Team, collaborating with fellow teachers to share ideas, adapt content, and support one another.
- Join in wider camp life by assisting with evening duties, team tasks, or helping with camper groups when required.
- Contribute to a fun, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere across the whole camp.
- Work flexibly to meet the demands of a busy camp environment while maintaining enthusiasm and energy throughout the season.
Personal requirements / characteristics:
We’re looking for native or fluent speakers of English, French, Spanish, or German, with a genuine passion for teaching and the ability to make language learning fun, engaging, and effective. Most Language Teachers at Camp Suisse are university graduates with some formal or informal teaching experience, ideally with children or young people. A professional approach, combined with a sense of fun and the ability to capture the imagination of a group, is essential. You should be confident in adapting lesson materials, managing a classroom environment, and tracking camper progress. Fluency in English is required, even if English is not the language you are teaching. The ability to contribute to other areas of camp life such as group leading or supporting excursions, is highly valued, and many of our Language Teachers take on dual roles. A willingness to get involved, support the wider team, and bring energy to both classroom and camp life is key to success in this role.
Remuneration:
- Accommodation for the duration of your contract
- Three meals per day
- Entrance / admissions / equipment relating to all activities in which you participate
- Competitive salary
- Accident Insurance
