Group Leader
Ages: 19+
The Group Leader is at the heart of every camper’s experience at Camp Suisse Ski, ensuring they have an unforgettable winter in the Swiss Alps. We’re looking for responsible, enthusiastic, fun, and hardworking individuals with a genuine desire to give each camper a safe, exciting, and rewarding stay.
Your role is to manage and care for a group of campers, primarily outside of ski lesson times, while leading activities, providing pastoral support, and ensuring their safety, well-being, and enjoyment throughout their stay.
Location: The role is predominantly based at our main camp in Les Crosets, a beautiful family-friendly ski resort in the Swiss Alps. We also run ski camps in alternative locations, so you may be required to relocate for short periods to deliver your role elsewhere throughout the season.
Key Responsibilities
1. Communication & Camper Support
- Act as the main point of contact for your campers, answering questions, providing reassurance, and escalating concerns when necessary (“if in doubt, check it out”).
- Liaise daily with local ski school instructors to coordinate lesson times, meeting points, and share feedback on camper progress.
- Communicate professionally with visiting school teachers, group leaders, and Camp Suisse management regarding daily programs and camper welfare.
- Attend regular staff meetings to review schedules, give feedback, and discuss camper needs.
- Provide clear daily briefings so campers are prepared for ski lessons, après ski, and evening activities.
- Report promptly to management any concerns about camper safety, health, or happiness.
2. Group Leadership & Activity Delivery
- Take responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of a group of campers for the duration of their stay.
- Lead and supervise your group during meals, free time, and all non-skiing activities, ensuring they are safe, motivated, and engaged.
- Organise and deliver après ski and evening entertainment programs.
- Offer feedback on the success and popularity of activities and camper engagement.
- Assist with camper wake-up routines and preparation for ski lessons.
- Ensure accurate daily reporting on camper well-being and safety (Monday.com).
- Support other activity sessions or excursions as required.
- Occasional ‘On Call’ shifts to support campers unable to partake in lessons.
3. Participation & Teamwork
- Assist with changeover days, including preparing accommodation for arriving groups and supporting departures.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organisation in camp facilities.
- Take responsibility for the correct use, care, and return of all equipment.
- Fully participate in staff induction and ongoing training.
- Be a supportive and positive member of the team, ready to help colleagues and contribute to a friendly, inclusive environment.
Personal requirements / characteristics:
It is vital you have a genuine passion for working with children and young adults. The ability to build a good rapport with campers from a range of backgrounds and have the maturity to confidently liaise with teachers, adults and suppliers is extremely important.
As you will be personally accountable for the campers in your care, successful candidates will need to be mature and responsible with strong leadership skills.
This is a very demanding role, working 6 days a week and therefore it is helpful if you thrive in a busy environment and enjoy the unique team environment a seasonal job offers. Above all you should be a team player who is kind, caring, and great fun! You need to be flexible as there are additional duties involved in this role, such as cleaning and change over of hotels, commonly associated with seasonal roles. It is helpful if you have experience working with children, first aid training, and are keen on sports and the outdoors, in particular skiing and snowboarding.
Remuneration:
- Accommodation for the duration of your contract
- Three meals per day
- Ski pass (Swiss sector)
- Personal ski or snowboard equipment hire (if needed)
- Entrance / admissions / equipment relating to all activities in which you participate as part of your role
- Competitive salary
- Accident Insurance
