Chefs de Partie
Ages: 19+
Feeding up to 200 people three times a day in a busy, fast-paced camp environment requires a talented, adaptable, and passionate team of chefs. At Camp Suisse, we are looking for friendly, well-motivated chefs who take pride in producing simple, fresh food to a consistently high standard. You will work as part of a small, supportive kitchen team, led by the Head Chef, to deliver quality meals for children, young people, and staff in the beautiful Swiss Alps.
This role is ideal for experienced chefs who thrive in a dynamic kitchen, enjoy working with others, and can manage their own station with confidence and efficiency.
Location: The role is predominantly based at our main camp in Les Crosets, a stunning but remote mountain village in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by breathtaking alpine scenery, Les Crosets offers the perfect environment for us to operate our camp, but has minimal local facilities in the summer. We also run camps in alternative locations, so you may be required to relocate for short periods to deliver your role elsewhere throughout the season.
Key Duties:
1. Communication & Camper Support
- Communicate clearly and professionally within the kitchen team, including with the Head Chef, Catering Manager, and front-of-house staff.
- Take on feedback and instructions effectively while maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Work collaboratively with the catering team to ensure timely, smooth service during busy meal periods.
- Support the preparation of special dietary meals as directed and ensure safe food handling at all times.
- Be a friendly and approachable presence in a camp that values community, inclusion, and care.
2. Kitchen Operations & Food Preparation
- Run and manage your own kitchen station, preparing and cooking meals according to the daily menu plan and budget.
- Assist in the production of three meals per day for up to 200 people, including children and staff.
- Follow recipes and prep lists to ensure consistency, portion control, and timely service.
- Maintain a high standard of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene throughout your shift.
- Carry out food preparation tasks to support the wider kitchen team, including knife work, baking, bulk cooking, and plating.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety standards and HACCP regulations.
3. Participation & Teamwork
- Work closely with a small, tight-knit kitchen team to deliver excellent food service under pressure.
- Step in to support other stations or tasks when required, showing flexibility and reliability.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, sharing responsibility for washing up, stock rotation, and food storage.
- Contribute positively to a team culture of professionalism, cooperation, and good humour, especially during busy periods.
- Be willing to help with broader camp operations on occasion, in keeping with the nature of seasonal work.
Points to note:
Our team of chefs are talented individuals with a good grasp of kitchen skills, including knife skills and proven experience in professional catering. Food is simple and prepared fresh daily to an exceptionally high standard. You will report to a head chef.
Personal requirements / characteristics:
We’re looking for chefs with solid professional kitchen experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. A strong grasp of essential kitchen skills including knife work, batch cooking, and food safety is essential, as is the ability to run your own section with confidence. You must be organised, self-motivated, and capable of working efficiently under pressure, while also being a team player who contributes positively to a supportive and good-humoured working environment.
