Climbing for the Yellows

23rd July 2018

Sunday started with an 8am breakfast and two hours of languages for all greens and yellows, they are really coming on! We then split into groups and chose between football or team building games such as our famous crate climb activity. A delicious lunch followed, packed with hot dogs, salads, baked potatoes, panini’s and more!

After lunch we got packed up and split into our groups for climbing and archery. Bullseyes were made and climbing genius imparted upon our fantastic campers. It was an amazing afternoon and we were blessed with glorious weather too! We ventured back down to camp for shower hour and to devour a delicious meal of either pizza and chips or spaghetti Bolognese – or in some instances both!

We then had our evening meeting to run through tomorrow’s activities and to explain our evening activity – the ‘3 minute movie’. We had a hilarious time recreating our favourite blockbuster films and recording them for campers and staff members’ delight!

Banana Boating for the Greens & Yellows

20th July 2018

We started our journey today with some world class education from our camp language teachers, recapping on our quiz from the chocolate factory. Following this, we set off down the hill to Villeneuve to go banana boating, diving and sunbathing by the picturesque Lac Leman (Lake Geneva).

After an outrageous amount of fun, we came back up the road to a plateful of fandabbytastic fajitas for dinner! We then had the challenge of creating compelling 3 minute videos to show the rest of the group before a well earned trip to bed.

Greens & Yellows go to the Glacier!

19th July 2018

What a tiring and exciting day the Greens and Yellows have had! We set off at 7am and ventured to Gstaadt where we jumped in a couple of cable cars which took us up to Glacier 3000. It was slightly foggy but that didn’t dampen our spirits as we rode sleds pulled by husky dogs and the alpine rollercoaster!

We had some lunch and headed down the mountain to warm up our fingers and toes. We travelled back to camp before walking up to the football pitch to take part in a massive extreme golf competition. We had fairly worked up an appetite by the time dinner came around, which was an outstanding meal consisting of chimmichurri pork and all the trimmings!

Finally, campers took a vote and watched a movie whilst sipping on a hot chocolate- the perfect end to a long day!

Parc Aventure for the Yellows

16th July 2018

Despite only being the second day for the yellow campers in Switzerland, it was already time for their first excursion: to the Adventure Parc. The sun shone all day, and the campers enjoyed themselves under the shade of the trees whizzing down zip lines. The day allowed the campers to really get to know each other and form friendships. After more than 3 hours climbing, the campers came back to the centre to unwind; playing games or watching the football game. There was a real buzz around Camp as the France v. Croatia match took place: many campers donned the tricoleur face paint, which added to the electric atmosphere created by the match.

The Olympic Flame comes to Camp Suisse

9th July 2018

This morning the entire camp was treated to a well deserved lie in, followed by a Nutella filled breakfast for reds and blues. Room inspections then began after the campers had made sure their bedrooms were perfect and clean for another week at camp.
Once the rooms were perfect and lunch was finished, exciting times laid ahead as Olympic day began.

Campers were sorted into different countries with members from red group up to yellow group. Campers got to put on face paint, make up chants and design a flag for their respective countries. The Olympic ceremony began with the lighting of the Olympic torch while each team descended to their national anthem. Campers then all headed to the football pitch where they competed in fun games such as an egg and spoon race, tug of war and frisbee golf. After touch competition, Brazil were crowned the Olympic gold medalists, closely followed by Japan and Egypt, with Maria Sofia and Adam G from green group winning prizes! The Olympics was followed by an impromptu water fight and then shower hour. Evening entertainment was an elective, with green group choosing to relax and do yoga, dance with a Zumba class and play more sports. Overall a great day!

Aqua Parc for the Yellow Group!

7th July 2018

This morning, the yellows were a little bit tired from their trip in the Glacier yesterday; it was clear they had a great time given the many fun stories from husky sledding and the roller coaster they told over breakfast.

The first couple of hours consisted of languages classes, before a big afternoon in Aqua Parc! All of them were excited to be there and try every slide. No sooner had swimsuits been put on, all the teenagers were queuing on the stairs with a ring waiting their turn to go into the slides. Full of energy, they certainly made the most of their afternoon! It was then time to come back in the camp then rest a little bit before participating in evening activities. With the day drawing to a close, all of the campers will go to bed with more happy memories!

The Yellows go Mountain Biking & Learn Languages!

3rd July 2018

Yellow group began the day with mountain biking, so after breakfast they all got fitted for helmets and gloves before setting off up the mountain. For the first half of the session, they played games on the bikes. After anything from slow racing to slalom to a cool obstacle course, it was time to go and in three groups Yellow biked down the mountain back to camp. After a well earned lunch, Yellow headed to language class, where they learned French, English, Spanish or German for the middle of the afternoon. They then split into two group: half going to the football pitch to play an awesome game of soccer and the other half going to the river for Ghyll Scrambling. On such a hot day, wading through the icy river was a relief, and everyone managed to do all the obstacles on the course! After dinner, Yellow had a quiz for evening entertainment before some quality ping pong time.

Yellow Groups special Pizza Trip

24th July 2017

Today the yellows spent their morning occupied in the climbing wall, learning some new skills and playing some games in order to make it a little more engaging and challenging. the campers had to race each other using the various coloured routes at varied levels of difficulty up the wall! There was plenty of healthy competition in the air! The campers then had a spot of lunch before putting on their thinking caps and heading to their language classes for lots of learning and practising!

The French beginners group, for example, learnt vocabulary specific to the topic of the House and Town before a rest break, and then moved on to the theme of Ffod afterwards. They finished by choosing a couple of songs for their coming karaoke night and playing games based on the vocabulary that they had gone over at the beginning of the class. Finally, the yellows were lucky enough to have a yummy Pizza trip to our restaurant as a thank you for their maturity and good behaviour during the session so far. Everybody sufficiently stuffed themselves and had a jolly old time chatting away sat in the evening sun. What a great way to end the day!
