2nd August 2016
Green Group had an active start today with a bike ride to the Villeneuve Swimming Pool. Our campers were driven down to Vionnaz before cycling in the sun along the Rhone River, towards Lake Geneva.
Our campers then spent the afternoon relaxing in the sun and swimming in the pool and lake. Most tried out the diving boards, plunging into the water and swimming out to the floating pontoon.
At dinner, our campers were treated to a delicious meal to celebrate National Swiss Day! The meal consisted of some very Swiss dishes: quiche, Tartiflette, and peaches and ice cream.
The evening was then spent on the climbing wall, playing climbing games and practising key skills. No doubt all of our campers slept well after such a busy day!

As opposed to their usual mornings at Camp Suisse, Green Group woke up this morning at the Torgon Ski Lodge, after their night of camping. They were treated to beans on toast before hiking back down the mountain to Camp Suisse.
Following a speedy shower and a delicious hot lunch, the campers sped off into their language classes for an afternoon filled with vocabulary learning and conversation practise.
The evening was very chilled, with campers relaxing and watching a film. It felt like it was well-deserved after their jam-packed day!
31st July 2016
After a nutritious and filling breakfast, Green Group were given free time in the morning to tidy their rooms, change their linen and pack for camping.
At 10:30, it was photo time! Each group gets a normal and a funny photo with their group leaders. For Green Groups funny photo they made an epic human life size pile up! After a final photo of the whole camp it was lunchtime and time for a final kit check before starting our journey to camping.
We set off at 2 o’clock. We saw some splendid views which kept our spirits high. We arrived at camp at 4:30. Campers were then given the option of hiking up to France. As they hiked up the sun came out and they saw a glorious view of France from the top of the Alps.
For dinner Green Group had a barbecue and cooked bananas with melted chocolate. In the evening we sang camp songs around the fire.
Another excellent day at Camp Suisse!
29th July 2016
We started our day with a delicious breakfast and got ready to hike to the stunning Lake Taney. We took a minibus to the bottom of the mountain and started the long hike to the top of the mountain. On the way we saw some amazing views. We had a brief lunch break and then reached the lake at 2 pm. It was absolutely stunning and well worth the hike. Green Group went swimming and chilled by the lake.
We left the lake at 5 pm and made it back to camp for a late dinner at 7:30. For dessert we had ice-cream and cookies which went down very well!
Overall a fantastic bed and safe to say everyone is looking forward to their beds!

The Green Group had a fantastic day at camp. After breakfast we headed to our afternoon activity of archery. We could see some future Katniss Everdeens in the making. We played a game where we stuck balloons on the target and tried to pop the balloon on the bulls-eye.
After archery Green Group had lunch. Then it was time for our second day of language classes . In class we worked on learning new vocabulary and building our confidence speaking our chosen languages.
Following language class was a delicious dinner of nachos, garlic bread and lasagna followed by waffles and ice-cream.
Another amazing day at Camp Suisse.
27th July 2016
The 5:30 am wake up was well worth it this morning, as Green Group got to spend a fantastic day at Glacier 3000! To reach the 3000m summit, our campers took two gondolas and a ski lift… Once up at the top, our campers spent some time on the glacier, enjoying the snow, husky dog sledding, an alpine rollercoaster, and sledging down the snowy hill. Our campers finished off the excursion with a walk along the Sky Bridge, to reach the peak and enjoy some impressive views.
After a sleepy bus ride back to camp, our campers were given the choice of several activities: they could play sports, do some arts and crafts, or have some chill time with friends. Our campers split into groups according to their chosen activity, with some relaxing, others getting creative with paint and glitter, and some getting active with some football matches.
Following such a jam-packed day, a relaxed evening was just what our campers needed… Our campers spent the evening watching a film with a cup of tasty, Swiss hot chocolate. What a great end to a great day!

After a glorious first day in the Swiss Alps, Green Group were excited for the next day of activities. After their nutritious and delicious breakfast Green Group were of to Plan de Croix for some mountain biking. At mountain biking they covered some very bumpy trails and also played games including slow race and follow the leader.
After mountain biking, Green Group had lunch at camp before taking part in language lessons. In class they did icebreakers and introductions in the language they were learning.
For evening entertainment the Green Groups knowledge was tested in a quiz extravaganza.
Another awesome day at camp.
Green Group had a fantastic first day in the Swiss Alps. The day commenced with some language tests with each camper completing some exercises in their chosen language in order to decide their classes for our first day of language classes. After this we headed off to Labyrinth Adventure Park for the rest of the day. After a picnic in the sun, Green Group spent the afternoon exploring and trying out the different games. Inflatable obstacle courses, sumo suits, slides and spinning wheels were amongst some of the fun activities on offer.
Following a relaxing shower hour and a delicious dinner of sweet and sour chicken, Green Group spent the evening challenging their knowledge with a game of giant scrabble. All in all, an exciting start to session 3 of Camp Suisse!
22nd July 2016
Today was the last full day of Camp Suisse Session 2 and in accordance with tradition, it finished in a very special way: with Mission Day! Campers were split into six squadrons: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo and Foxtrot. Then, after getting suitably prepared with camouflage face paint, each squadron was given the objective of their mission for the day.
Missions included: climbing, mountain biking, navigation and obstacle courses. All of our campers enjoyed the co-operative atmosphere, especially the squadron chants that were sung throughout the day. Mission Day came to an explosive end with a camp rocket launch!
The campers then transformed themselves army teams to prom prince and princesses, ready for the Camp Suisse Prom. After a delicious dinner, the camp awards were announced and the Camp Suisse cinema opened, showing the campers’ three minute movies that were made by the Yellow and Green Groups.
The evening came to a close with a spectacular disco, and everyone spent their last night at camp dancing and singing with their friends.
The prom and disco was the best and most special way to finish Camp Suisse Session 2!
19th July 2016
The early rise this morning was well worth it! Our campers were going to… Glacier 3000! Despite a few grumbles at the 6:15 am breakfast, there was excitement in the air as our campers boarded the bus. Upon arrival, our campers boarded the first of two cable cars, whisking our campers out of the valley and up, and up, and up to 3000 metres above sea level! There was great merriment as campers played in the snow throughout the short (ish) hike to the stunning viewpoint.
The other main attraction of Glacier 3000 is… The world’s highest roller-coaster, which allows riders to control the speed of their two-person carts. Campers had great fun flying down the straights and screeching around corners. The last activity of the excursion was a walk along the Sky Bridge, which our campers did eagerly, snapping a few amazing shots!
After a dinner of cottage pie, followed by warm cookies and ice cream, our campers took part in an evening activity: a quiz. Our campers were engaged in questions that tested their knowledge of sports, music, trivia and facts about Switzerland. The quiz ended yet another successful day here at Camp Suisse!
