Green Group go to the Chocolate Factory!

5th July 2018

Today our greens went to the fabulous Cailler chocolate factory! After an energetic breakfast we headed off to the factory and did a tour to discover some bits of the history of chocolate and try lots of different varieties of it!!! In relation to the language classes they’re taking, the green campers took a quiz with some questions about the factory and afterwards a quiz with questions on Gruyères, the well known beautiful village that is famous for its cheese. The village seems to be from a fairytale and the campers and staff absoulety loved it! We got back to camp for shower hour and at 6.30 we enjoyed a delicious dinner based on Mexican fajitas, which was followed by elective activities such as bingo and watching the world championship.
What a great day!

Day One for the Green Group!

2nd July 2018

Green group woke up to sunny skies for their first day at Camp Suisse. After breakfast in the centre, campers did a language quiz to test their language levels for their lessons over the next two weeks. Afterwards, campers grabbed a packed lunch and headed down the mountain to Parc Adventure, a high ropes and zip line park in the forest. After lunch in the park, green and yellow group set off for the trees where they enjoyed obstacle courses and zip lines. Afterwards, green group returned to camp and relaxed and called home during shower hour. Dinner was a camper favourite of pizza and chips, and evening entertainment was spent on the football pitch where campers played sports and games. Overall it was a great first day of session one, with campers making new friends and memories at Camp Suisse!

Session 4 – Day Three and Four – Green Group

11th August 2016

Green Group had a fantastic night camping in the stunning Swiss Alps!

On Tuesday morning, Green Group went on the climbing wall before lunch. After lunch, there was a quick kit check and then our campers began on their three hour hike to the Alpine Refuge Centre.

Once our campers had arrived, they had some free time to settle in, followed by a delicious dinner- a barbecue! Burgers (veggie and otherwise), sausages and wedges were served.

After dinner, Green Group walked up to the border of France! It was a quick French visit for Green Group and afterwards, they were back in time for a dessert of bananas with melted chocolate.

During the evening, camp stories were shared before our campers headed to bed.

The next morning, our campers made their way back down the mountain for showers before lunch and then language classes in the afternoon. What a fabulous day for Green Group!

Session 4 – Day Two – Green Group

9th August 2016

The Green Group had quite an early start to the day as they prepared to depart for the stunning Les Diablerets Glacier. Breakfast was served at 6.15 am to a lot of sleepy campers!

Luckily, the sun was shining, with not a cloud in sight. The campers enjoyed an amazing view of the surrounding mountains at 3000 m. The campers got to play in the snow, and they even got to go husky dog sledding! Afterwards, they were given the opportunity to play with (and take photos with) the dogs!

Our campers then made their way back to the bus, to head out for a relaxing and fun time swimming in the pool at Villeneuve, which lies on Geneva Lake. Green Group had a fantastic time there, using the diving boards and basking in the beautiful summer sunshine.

In the evening, Green Group returned for a tasty dinner. The group then spent their evening watching a film with fine hot chocolate.

Green Group woke up in the gorgeous, sunny Alps, excited for their first full day in camp!

After lunch, Green Group had language tests so that language teachers could place them in the the class that best matched their level of understanding.

In the evening, Green Group had Shepherds Pie for dinner, followed by sports outside for their evening entertainment! What a great day!

Session 4 – Arrivals Day

7th August 2016

All of our campers arrived safely at camp, ready for a week of adventure, excitement, and fun!

Our campers got to know each other over dinner, before having our first group meeting to go over new information, and then playing some ice-breaker games.

Everyone is definitely looking forward to the week ahead; we can’t wait to see what it brings!

Session 3 – Day Eleven – Green Group

4th August 2016

Green Group had the last of their excursions for the session today: their trip to the Callier Chocolate Factory!

As soon as breakfast ended, our campers all hopped on the bus to start the journey to the chocolate factory.

Once at the factory, Green Group learned the history of chocolate, and the Callier chocolate factory, and then… It was time for chocolate tasting! Everyone felt satisfied (if a little ill) after tasting all of that chocolate!

Next on the itinerary was Gruyères, a small, Medieval town famous for its cheese! Our Green Group campers had their lunch in the park, and were then able to see the castle, and browse the shops for some souvenirs.

At 4 pm, our campers made their way back to camp for Shower Hour, a tasty meal and… A staff v. camper football match. It was an awesome day for Green Group!

Session 3 – Day Ten – Green Group

Green Group had a fantastic day today! They started off the day with the usual breakfast at 8 am followed by the morning’s activities: choosing to either go outdoor rock climbing, or stay back at camp to do some ‘art jamming’ (having fun with arts and crafts).

Following lunch, Green Group had their last language lessons of the session! The majority of class time was spent preparing their karaoke songs for that same evening. Dinner was Indian-themed, with homemade naan bread and Chicken Korma for the main.

After dinner, it was… Karaoke time! Songs from around the world were sung and good times were had. It was yet another awesome evening, with everyone leaving for the evening, feeling very excited about tomorrow’s excursion to the chocolate factory!

Session 3 – Day Ten – Red Group

3rd August 2016

This morning was very exciting for Red Group as they were preparing for the Camp Suisse Talent Showcase 2016, set to take place that same evening! Language classes were covered in paint, glitter, pom poms and PVA glue as our campers were busy making props and costumes for the show.

After a delicious hot lunch, our campers headed even higher up the mountain so that they could have a go at mountain biking. Everyone gave it their best, and those who didn’t know how to ride a bike were able to learn! After some cycle tests and obstacle training, we cycled all the way back down the mountain, to camp.

Finally, that evening was the Camp Suisse Talent Showcase 2016! The English class performed Alice in Wonderland, the German class performed circus acts, and the French classes performed some comedy sketches and songs. Everyone had a great night showing off their newly-learned language skills!
