Yesterday the Reds and Blues had a very exciting and slightly different day here at Camp Suisse. After a morning of language learning, the campers had lunch at camp before going down to Montreux for the Jazz Festival. They took a look around the stalls, bought lots of unique gifts before having the opportunity to listen to some jazz music. After a morning of languages, it was time for the blues and reds to go banana boating and swimming at Villeneuve. It was a great experience and an exciting day for everyone and no one came off banana boating without having taken a dip in the lake. Smiles all round for what was a fantastic day.

Day One: Red & Blue Group

The first full day at camp for the Red and Blue Groups involved a whole range of activities and a lot of fun! The morning started with games in the sunshine and a very crazy game of dodgeball where the campers had to try and hit each other’s feet. The campers then completed their language quiz before have a delicious meal at lunchtime. The afternoon saw campers have a go at archery and bowls, two activites which were new to them but which they were very good at! Following the evening meal the campers had a great time at the children’s park, playing an intense game of bowls and going on the zip wire. What a great first full day at camp!

Session 4 – Day Three and Four – Blue Group

11th August 2016

Today was an exciting day for Blue Group: it was a day for camping adventures! First, our campers had their language lessons, in which they learned new vocabulary, grammar, and played games to practise their speaking skills.

After a delicious hot lunch, it was time to head off on a hike to the Alpine Refuge Centre for  a night of camping. Our campers enjoyed the hike through the beautiful mountains of Portes du Soleil, and we reached the site around 4 pm. Campers were shown their rooms for the night then played some team-building games before heading to dinner. On the menu were some delicious burgers, potato wedges, sausages, and salad.

After dinner, our campers headed off to do another hike, this time to the French border. Everyone seemed very excited to be in France and Switzerland at the same time.

In the morning, campers had a yummy breakfast and then walked back down to Camp Suisse. Once at camp, our campers had some time to have a shower before sitting down for a hot lunch.

After lunch, our campers learned valuable survival skills, like how to make a fire, how to set a hammock and how to filter water.

Our campers then spent the evening playing bingo! Two fantastic days in all!

Session 4 – Day Two – Blue Group

9th August 2016

Today was one of the best days for Blue Group: it was the day of their trip to Glacier 3000, followed by a trip to the Villeneuve Swimming Pool.

After a very early breakfast, our campers jumped on the bus, ready to have a fantastic day! Once at the glacier, and after taking two cable cars, our campers enjoyed the husky dog sledding, and were even able to get a ride on the Alpine Roller-Coaster, the world’s highest roller-coaster. After a delicious packed lunch, our campers were shown the fantastic view from the top of the glacier on a walk along the Sky Bridge.

After taking in the stunning views, our campers then headed to the Villeneuve Swimming Pool, which is an outdoor swimming pool located on the beautiful Lake Geneva. Campers then spent the afternoon swimming in the pool and lake, relaxing in the sun and trying the diving boards.

After a delicious dinner, our campers then spent the rest of the evening watching a film and enjoying a well-deserved hot chocolate.

What an amazing day for Blue Group!

All of our campers arrived safely at camp, ready for a week of adventure, excitement, and fun!

Our campers got to know each other over dinner, before having our first group meeting to go over new information, and then playing some ice-breaker games.

Everyone is definitely looking forward to the week ahead; we can’t wait to see what it brings!

Session 3 – Day Twelve – Blue Group

5th August 2016

The sun shone this morning, promising a great start to Mission Day.

Our campers were all divided into three squadrons: Team Alpha, Team Bravo and Team Charlie. The squadrons then set off their squadron leaders to complete their various missions.

All squadrons participated in missions involving mountain biking, scavenger hunts, abseiling, rocking climbing, team building games, and finally, a rocket launch!

After a successful Mission Day, our campers were delighted to see the camp in a new light, with the centre being decorated for prom night.

Our campers had a formal dinner in the decorated restaurant, and campers received their various awards (of which they were all very proud), before the disco started.

Our campers all danced like superstars that evening. What a fantastic way to end camp!

Session 3 – Day Eleven – Blue Group

4th August 2016

Today our campers had a brilliant day: they went to the Callier Chocolate Factory! The visit started with an explanation of the history of chocolate, followed by an explanation of how Francois-Louis Callier started his own chocolate empire, and the secrets of chocolate manufacturing. The best part of the visit was at the end when the campers could taste some Callier chocolate… And our campers ate as much as they could!

After the chocolate factory, our campers headed off to the historical Medieval town of Gruyères. Our campers had their lunches in a beautiful park, and afterwards, our campers had some time to shop for souvenirs.

Our campers arrived back at Camp Suisse for Shower Hour, and after some delicious chicken fajitas for dinner, Blue Group then headed up to the football pitch for the staff v. campers football game. What a great day for Blue Group!
