St Ivo School – Coaches 2 and 3 – Day Two
22nd June 2014
The sun is shining over Camp Suisse and Lake Geneva today, we couldn’t plan it better because it was Banana boating on the lake!
Once everyone had finished their breakfast for a busy day it was all aboard the Camp Suisse coaches to get down the mountain to the lake. The lake looked so a dazzling blue and the mountains towered over the lake – true Switzerland!
The students all had a go whizzing around on the banana boat, holding on tight! A great day in the sunshine and a dip in the clear lake water to cool off.
Back at Camp Suisse, it was time for shower hour and dinner. The Camp Suisse Chef had rustled up a delicious sweet and sour pork dish, with a side of rice (not forgetting the veggie option).
The evening activity for the students was the Torgona Hunt around the camp and village – in groups they go around solving clues to answer questions about the surrounding area, the winners got to claim a Camp Suisse goody!
What a day it had been, everyone was tired out and ready for another day at Camp Suisse – time for lights out!
St Ivo School – Coach 4 – Day Two
Wakey Wakey, Rise and Shine campers!
Once everyone had enjoyed a yummy breakfast which was a selection of cereals, toast, boiled eggs, yoghurt and fruit, it soon was time for the first activities of the day!
The students split into three groups and rotated around the three activities which were archery, the climbing wall and team sports.
Up on the archery range there were some great shots fired and plenty of bull’s-eye, over to the climbing wall the students were all harnessed up and climbing up to the top of the wall with support from their fellow class mates and during the sports there was some great team work with healthy competition.
Lunch time came around very quickly and the students had a healthy appetite after all the energy that has been used for the morning activities.
Next up was mountain biking! First things first, it was all about safety and some practice sessions were given on the obstacle course from the Activity Leaders. This gave the students a chance to improve their skills and have more confidence on the bike. Later in the afternoon it was a cycle ride further up the mountain and down some trails back to Camp Suisse for shower hour and dinner.
The evening activity for the students was the Torgona Hunt around the camp and village – in groups they went around solving clues to answer questions about the surrounding area, the lucky winners got to claim a Camp Suisse goody!
The sun had soon began to set and it was time for lights out.
St Ivo School- Coach 1 – Day Two and Three
Time to go camping!
It was glorious sunshine for the hike up to the Alpine Outpost, so there was plenty of sun cream and water! The students found the hike a challenge to get to the outpost but once everyone had made it, there was a real sense of accomplishment. The students helped each other with boundless support and enthusiasm right up to France!
The Alpine Outpost was a tremendous sight and once every one had settled down they all had a big appetite – good job there was a delicious BBQ sizzling away! Once the sun had set the camp fire was roaring, lighting up everyone’s happy faces – of course it wouldn’t be a camp without some songs and games!
More adventure awaits…
In the morning the students enjoyed an early morning breakfast in preparation for the hike back down to Camp Suisse (the Activity Leaders took the easy route back because there was more planned for the day).
Back at camp it was all aboard the Camp Suisse coach for an excursion to Aqua Parc! There were plenty of slides to whizz down and pools to splash around in. A great day out having fun and even getting a chance to practice swimming skills.
Soon time came for the students to return to Camp Suisse and have a dinner of scrummy Chicken or Vegetable Pie! The evening activity was Bingo – eyes down! Full House!
After an action packed couple of days, everyone was ready to rest their heads and revitalise for some more adventure!
Geneva English School – Day Five
20th June 2014
Time for more adventure and what better way is there other than the Bush Hike?!
Activity Leaders Tom and Fearghal taught the students about the forest life cycle and demonstrated how to filter water using moss found in the forest.
Afterwards the students went to the football field and enjoyed a picnic style lunch in the sunshine! A few games were played but then it was time to go home (time flies when you’re having fun!).
Goodbye to the students from Geneva English School, thank you for bringing laughter and great fun to Camp Suisse! Come back soon!
Ecole Moser – Day Three and Four
19th June 2014
On Wednesday the student’s began their day with coaching sessions of football and basketball and had the chance to develop and display their impressive ball skills.
In the afternoon the student’s began their hike up to the Ski Lodge for a night of glamping (camping but with home comforts). Everyone coped brilliantly with the steep climb and after a couple of hours we arrived at the camp site.
The students enjoyed a delicious BBQ and a real camp fire on which marshmallows were toasted, songs were sang around it and spooky stories shared!
After a great night of sleep the students set off down the mountain in the glorious sunshine! Once back at Camp Suisse on the Thursday, everyone had a go on the climbing wall and some archery practice – great shots were fired!
The evening activity was the disco, so everyone put on their disco shoes and had a boogie!
Soon it was time for bed and to rest after some great adventures!
Geneva English School – Day Four
The day began with some climbing on the indoor wall and archery, the students split into two groups with unicorn themed names – during the activity everyone set themselves a challenge and there were some great improvements!
After some tasty baguettes for lunch, the afternoon was filled with fun team building games. There were several problem solving games which really got the team spirit going. Some of the games involved water and because the sun was shining, it all turned into one great water fight!
In the evening it was time for the students to dress in their best and impress on the dance floor with some amazing moves as it was the Camp Suisse disco! Afterwards the students were lucky enough to stay up and watch the World Cup match.
Soon it was time for lights out for more adventure and fun!
Geneva English School – Day Three
18th June 2014
It was an incredibly exciting day for the students from Geneva English School today!
The first activity of the day was a visit up to Glacier 3000.
Several of the students agreed that the husky sledding on the glacier was sure to be the highlight of the day, but they also enjoyed the thrilling toboggan alpine rollercoaster!
After lunch the pace of the day slowed down and it was a visit to the relaxing thermal spa but in true Camp Suisse flair the activity was full of laughter and fun! The students were able to splash around in four different pools, the rapid river and the water slides – a great time!
The Camp Suisse chef had made lasagne and salad for the students return to camp and not forgetting the favourite dessert – Waffle Wednesday!
For the evening entertainment it was time to unwind and enjoy a delicious mug of hot chocolate whilst watching a movie.
Once the hot chocolate was all gone and the movie was over, it was time for lights out.
Geneva English School ÛÒ Day Two
17th June 2014
Compasses to the ready! Time to go orienteering!
The students from Geneva English School enjoyed a morning practicing their map reading skills and even had a go at making their own maps – later on they had an opportunity to navigate around the area using the maps they had made!
Everyone soon navigated their way back to camp for their lunch and the afternoon activity.
Time to put helmets and harnesses on and make the way down to the rock face in the valley for some climbing, but first things first everyone
listened to Activity Leader Tom on how to climb safely and have an amazing time too!
The day was rounded off nicely with an evening activity of bingo with some great prizes won!
Ecole Moser – Day Two
The students woke up feeling bright and ready for what the day would bring!
The first activity of the day was rock climbing down in the valley. The students put on a harness each and were then taught about climbing safety and how to tie knots in rope by Activity Leader Tom.
Lunch time came around quickly, so it was back to camp for freshly filled baguettes from the bakers in the village.
Activity Leaders Brodie and Carwyn had a great afternoon activity planned of mountain biking! The students listened carefully about how to improve their biking techniques. Soon enough everyone was ready for some refreshment – good job the Camp Chef had a scrummy afternoon tea prepared for the student’s!
Once the students had returned from their afternoon activity and enjoyed their dinner, it was time for bingo, there were some great prizes won!
The evening activity was super fun and ended the day perfectly!
Ecole Moser – Welcome to Camp Suisse!
16th June 2014
The start of a new adventure! The Camp Suisse coach collected the students from Ecole Moser in Geneva and then made the picturesque drive back to camp in Torgon, where everyone was refreshed with a nice glass of homemade lemonade.
After a tour around camp and a tasty lunch, the students stepped out into the great outdoors for the Bush Craft hike. This was a great opportunity to explore the alpine forest surrounding Camp Suisse and learn about using natural materials found in the forest, such as Sphagnum moss to filter water and also a chance to build shelters.
Soon it was time for dinner of chicken pie and a veggie choice too! Everyone had worked up an appetite, so it was thoroughly enjoyed.
Once dinner was over the evening activity begun! The students took part in the Torgona Hunt to learn their way around camp and have some fun too!
After a long day, it was lights out to get some much needed rest for another action packed day.
