Geneva English School ÛÒ Welcome to Camp Suisse!
16th June 2014
The students from Geneva English School arrived to Camp Suisse around Lunch time and tucked into hot dogs straight away!
As soon as everyone was ready there was no hanging around, it was up the to the mountain bike practice course. There was a great range of abilities that all developed throughout the activity.
Once back at Camp Suisse and the students had some time to themselves to freshen up (we call it Shower Hour), it was then dinner time of homemade chicken pie and a veggie option, followed by ice-cream – yummy!
Time for lights out came around too quickly but it will soon be time to start all over again!
Strothoff International School – Day Four
13th June 2014
It’s the last day for Strothoff International School at Camp Suisse but that doesn’t mean we will have any less fun!
The students took part in some team building games. The participation in these activities will develop communication when problem solving, create betterrelationships and improve understanding in social situations.
These games include the ‘Bomb’ Disposal where the students attempted to manoeuvre the ‘bomb’ out of a danger zone using only a handful of ropes – its great to see the students communicate and resolved the problem as a team!
The students then picked up a packed lunch to enjoy on their journey home and boarded their coach.

Year Four and Six – Le C̫te International School – Day Three
Year Four Class
Splish, Splash, Splosh!
The class of Year Four enjoyed an excursion to Aqua Parc this morning, plenty of the students overcame their fear of heights going down the water slides.
For lunch the students enjoyed a delicious picnic in the sunshine before setting off back home.
It has been a great few days with you all, great memories!
Year Six class
With the wilderness on Camp Suisse’s door step it is great to get out there and do the Bush Craft hike!
The students got involved by filtering water using objects found in the woods, putting up nice and comfy hammocks and the Activity Leaders Rosie and
Carwyn explained about the different mosses that grow locally and how they can be used for antiseptics or even food!
Back at Camp Suisse the students enjoyed lunch sat outside in the sunshine and then set of back home.
It has been great fun, come back soon!
Year Four and Six – Le C̫te International School – Day Two
12th June 2014
Good morning campers!
Year Four
The first activity of the day started with a Mouflon Hunt in the beautiful Alps with mountain guide Cyril. The students enjoyed learning about all the flora along the way and even spotted a few of those curly horned animals!
Soon it was time for lunch and everyone enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine.
During the afternoon the students enjoyed some orienteering and mapping skills through a variety of games and a walk through the woods. By the end of the activity everyone managed to remember and display an impressive number of new skills and information.
After dinner the children all relaxed on the terrace and did some art and crafts, reflecting on the activities they had taken part in.
Bed time was soon calling and the students were all tucked up in bed.
Year Six
The students in Year Six left camp for some rock climbing at the bottom of the mountain. There were some great climbers and Activity Leaders Tom and Co. were very happy with the whole group’s ability to climb with pace and panache!
Back at Camp Suisse for lunch everyone enjoyed a selection of baguettes and a refreshing fruit juice.
The afternoon activities included terrific team building exercises – plenty of communication and laughter! Later on in the day there was enough time to enjoy a game of football before Shower Hour and a Thai Green Curry for dinner!
Once the sun started to set, the disco lights we turned on and the dancing began!
Soon enough, everyone was all danced out and it was time to call it a night and get some rest.
Strothoff International School – Day Three
It was an early rise for a filling breakfast before leaving at 7:00am because it was Glacier 3000 excursion!
The students boarded the Camp Suisse coach and began their journey up to the glacier. Then it was an exciting trip on the cable cars and then a chair lift – it’s a long way up!
Once the students had all got to the top of the glacier it was time to meet the huskies and go sledding! There was even a chance to stroke the huskies!
Activity Leader Fearghal gave an interesting talk about glaciers, climate change and mountain environments, then it was time for lunch. The students enjoyed a tasty pack up with baguettes, muesli bars and some chocolate as a treat.
Soon it was time to head back down from the glacier. It was time for the afternoon excursion to Aqua Parc! The sun was shining today, so it was great to cool off by plunging into the lazy river and enjoying the wave machine in the pool.
Everyone dried off and made their way back to Camp Suisse and dressed in their best for the disco – many conga lines were making their way around the dance floor!
A great day and night was had by all!
A big Welcome to Year Four and Year Six- Le CÌ«te International School ÛÒ Day One
11th June 2014
The Year Four and Six classes arrived at Camp Suisse around 11:00am and enjoyed a refreshing glass of the famous camp Suisse lemonade. All the students were excited to explore the camp and Torgon, then they took the time to settle into their chalets.
Not before long a delicious lunch of hot dogs was enjoyed and it was time to do some mountain biking for the Year Four class. The Activity Leader was delighted because the class improved and displayed impressive control and skills, with everyone being brave and making it down the mountain on the thrilling off road trails.
The students of Year Six split into two groups (one being called Poison Ivy and the other Gryffindor). Each group took it in turns to practice their aim with a bow and arrow on the archery range and climb on the indoor climbing wall and really test their heads for heights!
Back at Camp Suisse everyone was ready for the homemade lasagne and garlic bread, it went down a treat after today’s activities and there was an extra treat for the students – it only comes around once a week, Waffle Wednesday (always putting a smile on everyone’s face).
Later on in the evening the DJ took to the mixing deck and played some tunes for a disco, which the students of Year Four partied to. Meanwhile the class of Year Six were enjoying the glamour of casino night – great fun!
Phew! What a day! It soon was time for an early night ready for a new day.
Strothoff International School – Day Two
Rise and shine campers!
The day started with an early morning walk before breakfast to take in the fresh alpine air. Then everyone boarded the coach and made their way to Collombey for some outdoor rock climbing – building on the skills practiced yesterday evening on the climbing wall back at Camp Suisse.
After a great team effort on the rock face it was time for lunch of filling baguettes from the local bakery.
Then the next activity was ready to start – the bushcraft hike. This was a great opportunity to learn about types of mosses that grow in the area, the ecosystem and life cycle of the forest. The students looked at the topography of the Alps and how they were formed.
Once shower hour was done at Camp Suisse, every one enjoyed homemade lasagne and Waffle Wednesday for dessert – scrummy!
The last activity before lights out was the Torgona Hunt. The students raced around camp following clues to answer questions about the surrounding area
A great day had by all – let us see what tomorrow will bring!
Welcoming the students from Strothoff International School ÛÒ Day One
10th June 2014
Camp Suisse welcomed students from Strothoff International School with a cool and refreshing glass of the chef’s homemade lemonade and yummy hot dogs. Then it was a tour of the camp and Torgon, so everyone had got their bearings.
With the sun high in the sky and plenty of sun cream on, the students went to the archery range to try out some target practice with a bow and arrow. Range Captain Rosie shared her knowledge about the anatomy of the arrow and the best shooting techniques.
After a great afternoon it was time to put bow and arrows down and head to back to camp for dinner, which was fajitas and a dessert of fruit salad. A storm was beginning to brew outside but no worries as the evening activity was the indoor climbing wall! Once harnessed and clipped to the ropes, it was up and away on the wall.
An early night was had by all, it had been a long day and everyone was excited for the next day of their adventure!
Ecole Internationale de Genève – Classes 6A and 6C – Day Five
6th June 2014
Early morning roll call only means one thing – a trip up to Glacier 3000!
The students of Classes 6A and 6C boarded the Camp Suisse coach to make their way up to the glacier, it was perfect weather to make the trip because the views were incredible.
First things first, it was Husky dogs sledding! Everyone came up to the dogs after a ride on the sled and gave them a pat on the head as a thank you. Then it was a short trip over towards the Quille de Diable to discuss glaciation, the formation of the Alps and the geography of the area.
The students then headed up to the viewing point to take in the amazing landscape and have a bite to eat – the weather was so clear they could even see Camp Suisse in Torgon!
The past five days have flown by and the time had come to say farewell! The students from Class 6A and 6C will be missed by Camp Suisse staff!
Ecole Internationale de Genève – Classes 6B and 6D – Day Five
The last day is finally upon the students of Ecole International de Genève (but that doesn’t mean it will be any less fun!).
The students from Class 6B started their day shooting some hoops and developing their basketball skills, they also took part in activity games like Bingo Shooting Drill. At the same time students from Class 6D played football where they practiced skill drills.
With the usual shuffle around of classes so that everyone had a go, it was soon time for lunch. The sun has been high in the sky today, so it was wonderful to sit outside and enjoy the food.
Time to say goodbye came around too soon. Students took photos, signed Camp Suisse t-shirts and plenty of hugs for everyone.
Farewell to the students of Classes 6B and 6D – We hope you had as much fun as we did!
