Green Group ÛÒ Back to Camp Suisse and Team Building
21st July 2014
The following morning after camping at the Alpine Outpost, the campers had a delicious breakfast then hiked back to Camp Suisse.
There was plenty of sing-song on the walk back!After a nice warm shower in the Camp Suisse Chalets the campers spent the afternoon on the indoor climbing wall and completing team building exercises. Well done to the campers for learning how to belay one another whilst climbing!
In the evening everyone enjoyed dance practice, some great laughs were had!
Yellow Group ÛÒ From the Cocoa bean to the delicious Swiss chocolate!
The campers in Yellow Group were in the mood for chocolate as it was to the Callier Chocolate Factory!
During the visit the campers started with an interactive tour, it detailed a timeline about the worlds love for chocolate from the Aztecs up to modern day! The campers also were told about the development of the Callier brand. Soon everyone was licking their lips in the Tasting Room!
After lunch (not of chocolate but of the Camp Suisse packed lunch!) the campers enjoyed a play in the park in Gruyères Old Town outside the Gruyère castle! Then it was a chance to explore the medieval town and see the sights and shops.
Back at Camp Suisse the campers took part in the evening dance class and practiced their moves!
All Groups – Saturday In The Alps
20th July 2014
Halfway through the session and all the campers were very glad of the later start that Saturday brings. Once all the campers were awake the chalet clean commenced, with all campers rolling up their sleeves and making sure all rooms were spic and span for week two!
All campers then went for their traditional group photos in the glorious Swiss sunshine, after photos and an energy boosting lunch all campers went to Plan De Croix ready for their afternoon hike. The chairlift was used to take the campers up to the French border, the walk along the border allowed to campers to see some amazing sights of both France and Switzerland. Fortunately the forecasted thunderstorms stayed away.
After another amazing meal from the wonderful kitchen staff all campers took a short walk over to the football pitch for Dracula, running around the forest solving riddles and games to gain all the ingredients to take down the Camp Suisse Vampire!
Red and Blue Group ÛÒ Swiss Chocolate, yummy!
In the morning, the campers in Red and Blue Group climbed aboard the Camp Suisse Coach to visit the Callier Chocolate factory.
The tour is a fantastic installation about the simple beginnings long ago of the world’s love for chocolate to the development of the Callier brand up to date. At the end of the tour the campers made it to the Tasting Room (which is exactly as it says on the tin), plenty of free samples for everyone!
In the afternoon, the campers went to Gruyère Old Town and enjoyed lunch in a park which was overlooked by Gruyère Chateau! In the park the campers enjoyed some sports (a great way to burn off all that chocolate!).
After a quick look around the shops in Gruyère Old Town the Camp Suisse Coach with all the campers headed back to camp for ‘Shower Hour’ and an evening of more sports!
Green Group ÛÒ Camping
The campers in Green Group enjoyed a morning of exciting language lessons, followed by a scenic hike up to the Alpine Outpost.
Everyone was very jolly and made it up to the outpost in good time! Once everyone had settled, it was time for the BBQ with banging burgers and sizzling sausages (not forgetting the vegetarian options too!) and for dessert it was Banana S’mores!
The campers were in very high spirits with a spontaneous party, everyone was having a good dance but soon tired themselves out. At bed time, the lights were dimmed and it was perfect time for scary stories!
Yellow Group ÛÒ Up To The Top!
The campers in Yellow Group enjoyed their morning in the language lessons. Some great progression from all the campers, the tutors are very impressed!
In the afternoon everyone assembled to go up onto the climbing wall – the Activity Leaders commented on the great support the campers give one another and the can-do attitude deserves a thumbs up!
Soon the campers had worked up an appetite and it was time to enjoy an English tradition of afternoon tea- Lots of scrummy cakes washed down with a refreshing cup of tea!
After some time to chill the campers had dinner and a great evening activity of dance!
Red and Blue ÛÒ Bush Craft Hike and Mountain Biking
18th July 2014
The Campers woke up to yet another beautiful day!
In the morning the campers were busy in their language options and because the weather was so nice, some of the language teachers taught their classes outside!
After lunch the Red Group went to the Mountain Bike obstacle course where the Activity Leaders instructed them on how to ride a bike safely and with skill.
The Blue Group went into the forest on the bush craft hike. The campers loved making shelters and setting up the hammocks!
In the evening back at Camp Suisse Red and Blue Group ran around the camp solving clues in the Torgona Hunt.
Green and Yellow Group – Banana Boating and Jazz Festival
What a day for the Green and Yellow group!
After having breakfast bright and early in the morning, the Green and Yellow group headed down to Lake Geneva for a banana boating session. After having a go on the banana boat and after many falls off into the water everyone relaxed by the lake, played some games and went swimming.
The campers played fierce volleyball game and then headed to Montreux for the incredible Jazz festival. Everyone soaked up the atmosphere and listed to some great music at the bandstand.
Back at Camp Suisse the Campers enjoyed a BBQ in the evening sunshine!
Red and Blue Group ÛÒ Jazz Hands!
17th July 2014
The campers in Red and Blue Group had a great day by Lake Geneva in the sun. Everyone climbed aboard the banana boat and whizzed around the lake trying their best to stay on!
Afterwards the campers had a swim and dried off at the edge of the lake, they had lunch and went to the world famous Montreux Jazz Festival. At the festival the campers enjoyed the various art, food stalls and enjoyed some music from the bandstand until early evening.
Back at Camp Suisse everyone enjoyed dinner and then had an early night after a busy day!
Green and Yellow Group Blog ÛÒ Who is for a game of Rounders?
The sun was high in the sky and it was a clear blue!
Everyone enjoyed their morning of language lessons or sports and then had lunch before the afternoon activities.
The Green Group split into groups to rota around the three activities which were mountain biking, orienteering and sports.
Mountain Biking – The campers spent the afternoon being taught how to control a bike on the forest trails (a great day especially for Saif who learnt how to ride a bike, well done!).
Orienteering and Sports – The campers created their own maps before searching the camp following clues. During the sports at the football field everyone enjoyed Rounders and football!
The Yellow Group made their way in the forest and began their Bush Craft Hike. The Activity Leaders shared their survival knowledge and taught the campers how to put up hammocks and make shelters.
In the evening all the campers enjoyed the Torgona Hunt where they race around the camp solving clues.
