This morning, Red Group started the day with their first breakfast at Camp Suisse. Everyone tucked into a wide selection of cereal, toast, fruit and eggs, read for the jam-packed day ahead of them. Before the group left for their first excursion, everyone took a quick language test to see which class they would be in tomorrow.
After that, it was off to the Labyrinth Adventure Park, a theme park down in the valley. There was so much for our campers to do there, they absolutely loved it!
There were huge slides, bikes, bouncy castles, swings, jungle gyms, and, of course, a giant labyrinth filled with hidden surprises for our campers to find!
Finally, it was time to head back to camp to have a shower and a satisfying evening meal. After dinner, Red Group had fun singing some karaoke. Our campers sung their hearts out, and headed to bed, ready for another day of fun!
21st July 2016
Today our campers woke to a bright and exciting day, ready to go banana boating! They came to breakfast with all they needed: swimming costumes, towels, suncream and most importantly, enthusiasm.
The bus dropped our campers by the lake and our campers secured a nice spot in the shade to put down their bags. The first group of seven jumped on the banana boat and a day of fun began! The campers all got a turn and the rest of the time was spent swimming in both the lake and the open air swimming pool, as well as going on the slide and the bouncy castle. Our campers also enjoyed ice cream and slushies from the kiosk, as well as playing cards and making friendship bracelets in the shade.
As they got on the bus back to camp, our campers assured their group leaders that this was the best day yet! But it wasn’t over yet: after a dinner of chicken fajitas, our campers presented their different acts at the Camp Suisse Talent Showcase 2016. All of our campers had prepared something in their language class. The audience enjoyed renditions of the rainbow song, ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’, ‘Do Re Mi’ and even a Harry Potter skit. The audience were all complete blown away by their talent! What a bunch of superstars!
20th July 2016
Today was another lovely day in paradise; it was a beautiful, sunny day here in the Swiss Alps. Everyone was very excited for language lessons since it was time to touch up the performances for Wednesday’s 2016 Talent Showcase.
In the afternoon, Blue and Red Groups were mixed together for some intensely sporty Olympic games. The mixed Blue and Red Group members were divided into different groups representing various countries. The groups proudly waved their countries’ flags and sung their anthems. They had to face each other in a series of sports like rounders, football, capture the flag and hockey.
Everyone gave it a go but in the end, it was Italy who took out the title! By the end of the day, all of our campers were exhausted by – but pleased with – their Olympic efforts!
19th July 2016
Our campers woke up at the Alpine Refuge Centre after a fabulous night of camp-fire songs, BBQ dinners and chocolate bananas. Red Group started the day with an adventurous hike back to the Camp Suisse Centre.
Following a speedy bag swap, our campers then boarded the bus to head off for a day at the Aqua Parc! Red Group spent the afternoon swimming and sliding through the water, alongside a picnic in the sun and relaxing in the lazy river.
After the delicious cottage pie for dinner, the Red Group then headed off for an evening of forest fun!
All in all, another jam-packed day here at Camp Suisse!
13th July 2016
The Red Group campers started off the day getting to know each other and working on their sportsmanship by playing a variety of exciting team-building games. A highlight for our campers was the outdoor crate climb!
After lunch our campers had a thrilling afternoon on the climbing wall, where our campers braved the heights and worked together to reach the top of the wall to ring the cow bells!
Following this, our campers worked on their team spirit again by completing against the Blue Group to create the best Camp Suisse group poster. The campers’ artwork was impressive, thoughtful and will look brilliant when pinned up to decorate the walls of the Camp Suisse centre.
8th July 2016
Red Group woke up to a bright morning at Camp Suisse. It was a special day for all of our campers: it was Mission Day and the night of the prom! All of our campers were mixed up and divided into different squadrons under a sergeant. After a quick morning debrief with the General Chief, each squadron set off on their respective missions.
Some of these missions included archery, an assault course, marching in rows and creating squad chants. The campers also enjoyed vertical infiltration training (otherwise known as the climbing wall) and mountain biking.
After the final activity, the rocket launch, our campers washed away their camouflage face paint and put on their finest clothes for the official Camp Suisse prom.
The theme was Hollywood and it was appropriately glitzy and glamorous! Awards and prizes were given out to our Session 1 campers. A disco followed the lovely formal dinner and the campers got to say their goodbyes, knowing that they would be jetting off home the following day!
This morning Red Group started off the day with mountain biking. Everyone received one-to-one tuition and displayed considerable improvement. Our campers played skills-based games and then biked back down to camp via a very steep hill!
In the afternoon, our campers took part in Mountain Adventure Day, which is day based around survival skills. Our campers enjoyed themselves immensely and they learned about water pollution, fire lighting for survival and shelter building. The afternoon was rounded off by a spot of afternoon tea- from the kitchen, not sourced from the wild!
The evening was rounded out by the Camp Suisse Talent Showcase 2016, in which our campers performed their songs and plays in their language groups. A great amount of talent was displayed, and our campers eagerly await the results, which will be announced at prom tomorrow night!

They spent most of their time creating songs, poems and theatrical pieces for the 2016 Talent Showcase, in which each language class will have to perform in the language that that they are learning here at camp. The 2016 Talent Showcase will be taking place tomorrow night and we can’t wait!
In the afternoon, our campers went to the Montreux Jazz Festival to explore the market stalls and music. Our campers were so lucky with the weather, as the sun was shining and they were able to to spend the whole afternoon outside!
In the evening, the dining hall was transformed into a board game extravaganza, with every table covered with every possible board game, in a variety of languages! After a good session of board games and fun, our campers went to bed, looking forward to mountain biking tomorrow.
29th June 2016
Today the Red Group woke up bright and early to head to the glacier. After seeing the sun rise over the alps, Red Group took two cable cars to get all the way up to the top of the mountain, climbing over 2,000 ft in total! After trekking through the snow, our campers were greeted by the huskies and everyone got to have a turn on husky sledding. Our campers really enjoyed cuddling the dogs!
Afterwards, our campers got to ride a roller coaster through the snow! When they got back to camp, the kids enjoyed some fun arts and crafts, and some even watched an exciting game of football!
To finish off the busy day, Red Group got to relax with a film and some tasty Swiss hot chocolate! They will definitely sleep well tonight!
