Session 2 – Day Three – Yellow Group

13th July 2016

Today was one of the best days at Camp Suisse: it was Yellow Group’s turn to go to the Aqua Parc! In the morning, our campers had their usual breakfast and then set off for a day of fun. Our campers set off in a great mood: so great, in fact, that there was singing and dancing in the bus on the way to the Aqua Parc!

When our campers reached the Aqua Parc, they were given some safety instructions, got changed into their costumes and were then set loose to enjoy the pools and slides. Our campers stayed at the Aqua Parc for almost six hours and all six of those hours were great. Some campers decided to rest and take it easy in the lazy river, while others decided to speed down the water slides… There was something for everyone!

On the way back, everyone was exhausted from all the fun they had had that day. When our campers arrived back at camp, they had just enough time for Shower Hour, and then it was time for a wonderful Thai Chicken Curry, made by our lovely Camp Suisse Chefs.

After dinner, our campers had a choice of watching a film or playing football in the sports hall. After that, it was time for bed after an absolutely enjoyable, if a little exhausting, day here at Camp Suisse!

Session 2 – Day Three – Green Group

Today was a fun day for Green Group as it was their day at the Aqua Parc! After a filling breakfast, our campers jumped on the coach, ready for an exciting day of water-related fun!

Once at the Aqua Parc, our campers were told the Aqua Parc rules, changed into their swimming costumes, and then headed to ‘base camp’ to set up a Camp Suisse meeting point. Once base camp was established, our campers headed off to enjoy the Aqua Parc!

Our campers had plenty of time to explore the whole park and try all of the slides, rides and different swimming pools. Our campers returned to Camp Suisse at 5:30 pm, just in time for Shower Hour and a delicious dinner of Thai Chicken Curry!

After dinner, our campers played a multi-lingual, giant game of Scrabble, in which words in any of the Camp Suisse languages (English, French, German and Spanish) were accepted.

What a great day for Green Group!

Session 2 – Day Three – Blue Group

Today the Blue Group had a fantastic day! Our campers did rock climbing on the indoor wall in the morning and they were all really excited and enthusiastic to be learning some climbing techniques. The activity and group leaders were impressed by the way that all of our campers attacked the wall: with enthusiasm and a willingness to give it a go!

After climbing, our campers then played some team-building games, which were enjoyed by all! Not only did our campers get to know each other better, they also laughed and shared a good time.

To finish off a brilliant day, our campers did some arts and crafts. Blue Group made some group posters, competing with Red Group to create a team poster that would stand out on the walls of the Camp Suisse centre. Our campers used a range of different materials and added footprints and other special, personal touches to their artwork. What a day!

Session 2 – Day Three – Red Group

The Red Group campers started off the day getting to know each other and working on their sportsmanship by playing a variety of exciting team-building games. A highlight for our campers was the outdoor crate climb!

After lunch our campers had a thrilling afternoon on the climbing wall, where our campers braved the heights and worked together to reach the top of the wall to ring the cow bells!

Following this, our campers worked on their team spirit again by completing against the Blue Group to create the best Camp Suisse group poster. The campers’ artwork was impressive, thoughtful and will look brilliant when pinned up to decorate the walls of the Camp Suisse centre.

Session 2 – Day Two – Green Group

12th July 2016

A bright and sunny day at Camp Suisse! After a nutritious and (more importantly) delicious breakfast, Green Group cycled around the glorious Alps.  Our wonderful activity leaders showed our campers the joys of mountain biking by teaching them new tricks and moves. After this fantastic session it was time for lunch in which campers could enjoy paninis, jacket potatoes, hot dogs and salads.

After lunch they had their first language lessons. The students were kept captivated by our innovative and interactive lessons which provide a wide variety of skills to apply in the real world. In addition, they were doing some icebreaker games to get to know each other better.

For dinner we had the most delicious and filling burritos followed by a British classic – Eton Mess. Dinner was followed by some fun games including ‘Capture the Flag’ and ‘Dodge ball’.

Another wonderful day for Green Group at Camp Suisse.

Session 2 – Day Two – Red Group

The Red campers started the day with a lovely fresh breakfast followed by a trip to the bank to take out money to spend at Montreux Jazz Festival! Campers then started their first full language lesson where they met their new teachers and got to grips with new languages and topics. After two exciting lessons the Red Group jumped on the Camp Suisse coach and ventured down to Montreux for the Jazz Festival.

When we arrived we set up camp  in a park down by the lake which was beautiful. The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the bright and bustling stalls at the festival where campers could buy souvenirs to remind them of their time at camp. We finished our jazz festival adventure by listening to a little jazz music whilst chilling by the lake. Perfect!

Session 2 – Day Two – Yellow Group

11th July 2016

This morning the Yellow Group headed up to the sports field to do some archery. Once they’d proved to be ready to challenge Katniss Everdeen, we moved on to football, All the campers got stuck in and had great fun. After a hearty hot lunch it was time for their first language lessons of camp. In the evening we played capture the flag in the sports hall.

Session 2 – Day One – Green Group

The Green Group hit the ground running with a smashing first day at camp! All campers made it to the dining room at 8 am sharp for a hearty feed with cereal, toast, fruit, yogurt and juice aplenty. This was followed by the language assessment, a short test to ensure all campers are placed in the correct group according to their ability.

We then gathered together our swimming things and applied lots of sunscreen, grabbed a packed lunch and hopped on the bus. Enjoying the spectacular views along the way, we took the bus down the mountain and soon arrived at Lake Geneva. The campers then enjoyed their first day relaxing by the lake with frisbee, rugby, swimming, ice – cream and of course banana boating! Despite a few determined efforts to cling on, all campers ended up with some hilarious falls into the lake.

Back at camp it was time for shower hour followed by dinner. After filling up on sweet and sour chicken and rice it was time to head up to the football pitch for one final run around before bed!

Session 2 – Day One – Yellow Group

The Yellow Group had a fantastic first full day at camp! After a delicious breakfast campers prepared themselves for a small test to determine their language ability for their language lessons. After this we hopped on the bus and headed off the mountain and down to Lake Geneva to spend the day in the sunshine making the most of the hot weather. Whilst at Lake Geneva everyone had the chance to go banana boating, spending time on the giant aqua slid, swim or play numerous games on the grass. We had so much fun. Its safe to say there were several tired campers on the bus back to camp.

This was soon conquered by a delicious dinner of flatbread and sweet and sour chicken with rice followed by an ice-cream sundae for dessert. After dinner the Yellow group had an evening full of sports (mostly softball and football). After this we returned back to camp to cheer on France and Portugal in the Euro football finals!

Session 2 – Day One – Red Group

The campers awoke bright and early for their first full day of activities. A hearty breakfast was served at 8 am to prepare them for the morning which was comprised of a variety of different sports. The campers worked brilliantly together to meet all the challenges they faced – highlights being a game of ‘Crab Football’ and a very intense game of ‘Capture the Flag’. After this the Red Group campers had a little break before sitting a small test to determine their language class and level for the session.

The afternoon began with a walk into the forest to begin our mountain adventure. During this the campers learnt amazing life skills including shelter building, water filtration and fire lighting – all whilst singing camp songs and enjoying the sunshine.

Finally a delicious dinner refuelled the campers for their evening activity; Torgon-a Hunt. The treasure hunt style game was received very well by campers as it helped them get to know the camp grounds, meet new friends and suitably tired them out in preparation for a great nights sleep!
