All hail the Kings of Camp

27th May 2011

We are overjoyed to announce that Kings of Camp 2010 Daniel and Benjamin will be taking us up on their prizes of a free trip back to Camp Suisse this summer. Daniel and Ben won their prestigious accolades for their contribution to the life of the camp during summer 2010. Daniel and his brother will once again be making the trip all the way over from Mexico for their 3rd consecutive summer of fun and adventure at Camp Suisse, whilst Ben and his brother Will are joining us again from Massachusetts, USA. We look forward to welcoming you back boys and hope you have a fantastic summer!

Camp Mentor Programme

25th May 2011

After the success of the last summer’s pilot run of the Camp Mentor Programme, we’re delighted to announce that the programme will be continuing into its second year this summer. We are more than pleased, therefore,’ to be welcoming to camp in their roles as camp mentors Alexandra and, as the first beneficiary of our sponsorship scheme, Anat. Both girls made a wonderful impression on staff and campers last summer, for this reason and many more we look forward to working with you both over the summer! For more information of the programme, drop us a message at info@campsuisse.com.

Holy smokes!

‘Flights cancelled as ash could heads towards UK’! With news of another cloud of Icelandic ash due to disrupt flights out of the UK we here at camp are all on tenterhooks as to whether our staff will make it out here on time for the opening of camp. Fear not, we will do all within our power to make sure everybody arrives here in one piece and in time for camp, whether than means hiring a coach, navigating a ship or covering ourselves in lard and swimming the channel, we’ll get them here! Let’s just hope all you campers get here with no problems.

Tick-Tock

22nd May 2011

Where is the time going? As ever it seems to be flying by as we are heading full speed towards the opening of camp 2011. With just… do we dare say it? … 2 weeks remaining the excitement and anticipation here in Torgon is almost unbearable. Our staff have already begun arriving, the trophy for the most pre-empted arrival goes to Jim for his surprise but most welcome arrival at camp a couple of days back. Bring on the rest of motley crew!

They‰Ûªre back!

20th May 2011

We’ve said it before but this year camp is bigger and better than ever. That means it’s all hands on deck, rather a lot of hands actually… this year we’ve recruited more staff than ever! After two mammoth sessions of interviews in London and Leeds we carefully picked out our summer team for 2011 and are more than confident that we’re on to a winner. So thanks to all those who came for interview and congratulations to those successful candidates who’ll be flying out to Torgon in just a couple of weeks. Not forgetting, however, our returners; a true testament to the commitment and motivation of our staff, this year we’ll be welcoming back more returning staff than ever before, some who’ll be returning for their 2nd year, others who’ll be returning for their 3rd, 4th, 5th… year. A few names you may recognise; Katie, Big Phil, Harry, Morgan, Jim, Rachel… to name but a few. We look forward to working with faces old and new. A très bientôt!

Cultural Exchange

18th May 2011

There we have it folks, the countdown is over. Over the past week on Facebook we’ve revealed to you what we believe to be the ten main benefits of summer camp. We hinted at it in Monday’s journal entry, but here you have it laid bare, in at number one… Cultural Exchange.

However, here at camp we aware that one camper’s experience will inevitably be different from that of the next and all will take away something different from their time at camp. Whether you agree or disagree with our countdown we’d be delighted to know what you think! Write to us on our Facebook page wall, tweet us on Twitter or drop us an old fashioned email to info@campsuisse.com and tell us your thoughts on what you consider to be the benefits of camp.

We are INTERNATIONAL Camp Suisse

16th May 2011

Astoundingly, last summer over 40 different nations were represented by our campers! Hailing from parts of the globe near and far we welcomed youngsters from Venezuela and Brazil, from Iraq and Israel, from Kenya and Guinea, from as far away as Australia and from as near as just down the road in Lausanne. We here at camp are extremely proud to be able to bring together such a vast mixture of cultures and languages all in the name of creating a fantastic summer experience! We may all like different foods, we may all speak a different mother tongue, we may all wear different clothes… but one thing’s for sure, we all feel the same sense of exhilaration when you tumble off the banana boat into Lake Geneva! The name ‘International Camp Suisse’ couldn’t describe us better. So let’s wait and see how many nationalities we tally up this summer!
