Session Three B – Day 4!
12th August 2015
Today marked the final day of language lessons where campers created projects about various languages and cultures. The afternoon for reds and blues was spent playing sport and then gyll scrambling which involved overcoming various obstacles in the river. The kids had a great time and loved getting wet and muddy! Meanwhile the greens and yellows took part in mountain adventure day where they learnt to put up hammocks and tarps, filter water and build natural shelters! A great day was had by all and some valuable survival lessons learnt. The evening was spent designing and building rockets which was a great success.
One More Splashing Day At Camp Suisse!
10th August 2015
What a day today has been for our international campers! In one big group our whole camp ventured out of Torgon and off to the Aqua Parc!
Waves pools were swam in, slides were slid and dive bombs were dived. All of our campers made the most of their day at the Aqua Parc with everybody trying most of the rides available. Although there was some hesitation, many of our campers overcame their fears to take on some of the bigger slides! Well done guys!
After, everybody returned back to Camp Suisse HQ suitably ready for a scrumptious dinner of cottage pie!
We think a hearty meal with recharge those batteries ready for The Torgona Hunt evening activity!
Day One – Session B!
9th August 2015
The campers had their first language lesson of the session in the morning with some interesting debates in French about McDonald’s!
After lunch it was time for an afternoon packed full of fun! Whilst the yellows and greens conquered the climbing wall the reds and blues got creative at art jamming!
After a quick afternoon snack the groups swapped over. A few of the yellows had some fun in the forest despite the rain, learning how to slack line. The campers had a well earned dinner before ending the day with some very loud and lively Karaoke!
Goodbye to our Session A campers
8th August 2015
As we come to the end of another week here at Camp Suisse, we sadly waved goodbye to our Session A campers of 2015.
What a week we have had! With everybody trying so hard at all the activities and really enjoying the excursions, we can safely say that this has been one of the most enjoyable sessions we’ve ever had!
On Friday evening, the Session A finale was hosted at the Camp Suisse prom. An Alice in Wonderland theme magically took over our restaurant and all the campers sat down to a delicious dinner hosted upon two huge tables which seated everybody, staff and all.
Next up was our camp awards ceremony, where the coveted Queen of Camp Award was deservedly given to Zara, for being such a polite, friendly and generally lovely girl to be around. Congratulations Zara you deserve it!
Finally to top it off the night was boogied away at the disco provided by our in-house mix master DJ Ross.
Massive thank you to all of our Session A campers, we’ve had a great time and we hope you have too!

Session Three – Day Five – Reds and Blues
6th August 2015
It was a sunny start for the campers yesterday. After a hearty breakfast, they all headed up to their first activity of the day…Mountain Biking!
With a quick crash course (designed to prevent an crashes) the campers were swiftly ready to take some of the down hill dirt tracks. Impressing all of our activity leaders, the campers were naturals, with Timeo and Leonardo showing particular prowess for the sport.
Coming back down for a refuel at lunch time, the campers then spent their afternoon in the language classrooms practicing their entries to the languages talent show.
After a tasty burrito dinner, the campers all piled into the hall for a big game of Camp Suisse Bingo. A heated first round saw Maddie bagging herself a load of goodies for being the first winner of the night. Well done!
Session Three – Day Five – Greens and Yellows
Yesterday morning Camp Suisse HQ was filled with the sound of the green and yellow campers practicing in the language classes for their Language Talent Show.
The afternoon hosted downhill mountain biking for the yellows and a football tournament for the greens. An afternoon of fun in the sun was highlighted by the third racooning of the session!
The unlucky pair, Ross from our pastoral care team and Joni our very popular camp mentor, were pelted with water, yoghurt, jam and flour all in aid of raising money for our charity, The Chloe Mansfield Fund for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Impressively they managed to raise a whopping 270 CHF.
After dinner the greens and yellows had an evening filled with fun at the karaoke machine. Wow these guys can sing!
Session Three – Day Six!
After a good camp breakfast, all of the colour groups headed off into the beautiful mountains of the Portes du Soleil. The red and blue group took a slightly shorter route whilst the greens and yellows were able to go on a bit of a longer hike. Thankfully the sun was shining bright, making our hike a lot more enjoyable. Everyone enjoyed lunch on the mountains, before continuing our hike onto the ski hut, which was to be our home for the evening. The late afternoon was spent playing games, dancing to music and chilling out – the rest was much needed after the long day of walking. At dinner time we were joined by our lovely kitchen staff who made us delicious burgers and sausages and chocolate bananas for pudding. After dinner, the red and blue group sang some camping songs whilst the greens and yellows hiked up to the French border and came back by torchlight.
All in all, a great day was had by all.
Session Three – Day Four
5th August 2015
The day could not have started better! Although it was an early 6am start…everybody was off to the glacier. Spending the morning at a head swilling 3000m, all our campers had a wonderful time, firstly learning about how glaciers are formed, to then hurtling down the mountain on the alpine roller coaster.
Afterwards, everybody headed off the mountain and down to the pool at Villeneuve, where all enjoyed a dip in the warm pool and dive into Lake Geneva. Taking a jump off the high board is no easy feat, regardless of this, our yellow and green campers (and couple of the reds and blues) showed no sign of fear when back flipping from the top!
Back at camp, the evening was spent chilling out with a mug of tasty homemade hot chocolate and a movie…After a long day everyone deserved it!
Session Three – Day Two – Reds and Blues!
3rd August 2015
Reds and Blues started off their day with their first language lessons, with campers learning English, French, Spanish and German everyone did their fair share of bonjours and holas. After quizzing each other on what they learnt over lunch, reds headed off to the Camp Suisse climbing wall while blues tried their hand at various team building games such as the Spiders Web and bomb disposal. With a quick switch round after a spot of cake, blues were put to the test on the wall and reds mastered the crate climb where everyone reached the top and rung the victory bell. Dinner was Lasagne which went down a treat after a busy day. However, there no rest for the wicked and after dinner reds and blues completed the scavenger hunt which had them exploring all of Torgon…winners to be announced on Friday!
