Session 3 – Day Eight – Green Group

1st August 2016

As opposed to their usual mornings at Camp Suisse, Green Group woke up this morning at the Torgon Ski Lodge, after their night of camping. They were treated to beans on toast before hiking back down the mountain to Camp Suisse.

Following a speedy shower and a delicious hot lunch, the campers sped off into their language classes for an afternoon filled with vocabulary learning and conversation practise.

The evening was very chilled, with campers relaxing and watching a film. It felt like it was well-deserved after their jam-packed day!

Session 3 – Day Eight – Red Group

Red Group started the day with language lessons. Camp was filled with the sounds of French, German, Spanish and English! The children began to think of ideas for the Camp Suisse Talent Showcase 2016.

After a fantastic hot lunch, Red Group were ready to hike to the camping site. They all did so well and made it in one piece!

They enjoyed a BBQ dinner followed by friendship bracelet making, stories and colouring in.

The evening was spent munching on chocolate bananas. A perfect end to a perfect day!

Session 3 – Day Seven – Green Group

31st July 2016

After a nutritious and filling breakfast, Green Group were given free time in the morning to tidy their rooms, change their linen and pack for camping.

At 10:30, it was photo time! Each group gets a normal and a funny photo with their group leaders. For Green Groups funny photo they made an epic human life size pile up! After a final photo of the whole camp it was lunchtime and time for a final kit check before starting our journey to camping.

We set off at 2 o’clock. We saw some splendid views which kept our spirits high. We arrived at camp at 4:30. Campers were then given the option of hiking up to France. As they hiked up the sun came out and they saw a glorious view of France from the top of the Alps.

For dinner Green Group had  a barbecue and cooked bananas with melted chocolate. In the evening we sang camp songs around the fire.

Another excellent day at Camp Suisse!

Session 3 – Day Seven – Blue Group

Having completed their delicious breakfast, Blue Group had some time to tidy and clean their rooms and change their bedding. Afterwards, our fantastic photographer Matt ran a session of taking group photos in which everyone made some fantastic silly poses.

The afternoon was dedicated to a very special activity: Camp Suisse Olympics! Blue and Red campers were divided into 3 teams, each representing a fictional country. The countries competing were Dreamland, Aloata and Sportyland. The first task of the group was to create a flag and paint each others faces to represent their countries. Then campers had to complete different challenges such as the 3 legged race, the egg and spoon race and the wheelbarrow race. Everyone enjoyed their sporty afternoon and worked very well together showing great teamwork skills. Dreamland won the title of ‘Winners of Camp Suisse Olympics’.
After yummy tortellini for dinner, campers spent their evening playing ‘Dracula’ which involved completing different challenges in order to kill Dracula.

Session 3 – Day Seven – Red Group

Today Red Group started the day by tidying their bedroom. The campers showed us how independent they were by making their own beds, folding their clothes and sweeping their floors. After that we took camp photos for the yearbook  then had a delicious hot lunch.

In the afternoon the children created their own countries and competed in Camp Suisse Olympics Day. Congratulations to ‘Dreamland’ who were the winners. Finally, this evening the campers set off on a mission to slay Count Dracula – but to do this they had to complete a series of challenges to collect all the required weapons. Using team work they managed to slay Count Dracula and all in plenty of time for bed!

Session 3 – Day Six – Green Group

30th July 2016

Today Green Group spent the day on site in the glorious sunshine. The morning was filled with sports at the football pitch with games such as baseball and capture the flag. After a delicious hot lunch the campers headed of to their language classes. The classrooms were buzzing with the sounds of English, German, French and Spanish as campers learnt new vocabulary and played games.

The evening was spent at the Camp Suisse Casino with campers trying their hand at card games and roulette (all with fake money of course).

All in all, another fab day at Camp Suisse.

Session 3 – Day Six – Blue Group

Today the Blue Group awoke to sunshine and blue skies. After breakfast they joined their language groups for a morning of teaching and language related fun.

After a filling lunch, they went for a scenic walk to the football pitch where they learned how to do archery. After a quick lesson on the different parts of the bow and arrows, they stepped up to the targets and took their shots. The first round of shots was very impressive, we having some young Robin Hoods and Katniss Everdeens in the making. They spent the afternoon shooting arrows under the sun and finished off with a game of rounders: staff vs campers.

We were back to camp in time for shower hour and a treat of pizza and chips for dinner before some ‘Forest Fun’ in the evening before bed.

What a fun and educational day!

Session 3 – Day Six – Red Group

Red Group started the day with their language lessons. Everybody threw themselves into their languages and made real progress whilst having fun. After a splendid hot lunch Red Group went down to the football field to do archery. It is safe to say that we have some future potential Olympic archers in the group. Red Group finished the day with multiple ‘Forest Fun’ activities which wore them out just in time for bed.

Session 3 – Day Five – Yellow Group

29th July 2016

Yellow Group had a fantastic day with a hike up to the famous Lake Taney. We left at 9 am and set off on our 4 hour hike in the Alps. We stopped and had a picnic lunch enjoying our surroundings. After the long journey we arrived at the lake and were welcomed by the stunning view. Campers had time to swim and relax and soak up the bliss sunshine. After the much needed rest, Yellow Group walked back down and back to camp for a delicious and well earned dinner. Afterwards they enjoyed a nice chilled evening before heading to bed.

Session 3 – Day Five – Red Group

Red Group had an excellent day at banana boating. Everyone had a go on the inflatable banana being towed around Lake Geneva and everyone eventually fell in! After that we dried off before heading off to try the huge inflatable slide, play on the beach, collect shells, play ping pong, swim in the pool and go on the bouncy castles. What a jam packed day of fun! After chicken pie for dinner the campers set off on Torgona Hunt – a scavenger hunt around Torgon, a great chance to explore the town.
