Archery, Languages and Ghyll Scrambling for the Greens!
3rd July 2018
Today Green group enjoyed an action packed day at camp! In the morning campers enjoyed an archery session on the football pitch – a stunning setting! After a delicious hot lunch campers had their first language lessons and got to know their language class. In the afternoon Green group got to choose between Ghyll Scrambling and sports on the football pitch. Ghyll Scrambling is an obstacle filled walk up the river and many campers chose to do this unique activity! Green group ended the day with an A-Z quiz night and headed off to bed to prepare for another exciting day!

Bush craft for the Blues

Blue Group spent the afternoon out in the wilderness with our activity leaders. Our campers learnt vital survival skills like filtering water, shelter building and lighting fires. A brilliant day in the great outdoors!

Day One: Red & Blue Group
The first full day at camp for the Red and Blue Groups involved a whole range of activities and a lot of fun! The morning started with games in the sunshine and a very crazy game of dodgeball where the campers had to try and hit each other’s feet. The campers then completed their language quiz before have a delicious meal at lunchtime. The afternoon saw campers have a go at archery and bowls, two activites which were new to them but which they were very good at! Following the evening meal the campers had a great time at the children’s park, playing an intense game of bowls and going on the zip wire. What a great first full day at camp!

Day One for the Green Group!
Green group woke up to sunny skies for their first day at Camp Suisse. After breakfast in the centre, campers did a language quiz to test their language levels for their lessons over the next two weeks. Afterwards, campers grabbed a packed lunch and headed down the mountain to Parc Adventure, a high ropes and zip line park in the forest. After lunch in the park, green and yellow group set off for the trees where they enjoyed obstacle courses and zip lines. Afterwards, green group returned to camp and relaxed and called home during shower hour. Dinner was a camper favourite of pizza and chips, and evening entertainment was spent on the football pitch where campers played sports and games. Overall it was a great first day of session one, with campers making new friends and memories at Camp Suisse!

Conyers go to the Chocolate Factory

Conyers had an exciting day for that last full day at Camp Suisse. In the morning they headed off to Maison Cailler, the famous Swiss chocolate factory. After an exciting interactive tour Conyers got to taste test as much chocolate as they could stomach and bought many more bars of chocolate home to bring home! Conyers then got back on the coach and were bright to the beautiful heritage village of Gruyère. After lunch in a medieval park, Conyers got to wander around the cobblestones village and soak in the atmosphere under the sun. Dinner was followed by one of the highlights of the week, the Camp Suisse Disco where Conyers got to show off their dance moves with DJ Steve on deck, and enjoy their last evening in Switzerland.

École Moser go Camping
21st June 2018
On Tuesday, École Moser went mountain biking in the morning before taking part in an 8 km hike to the refuge camp in 28 degree heat. Upon arrival the campers were greeted with refreshments and had free time to relax and recover from what was a challenging hike. The BBQ that the wonderful catering team had prepared for us went down a treat before the bonfire was lit and the campers put on a talent show and ate marshmallows by the bonfire.
An early night was had by all after a very busy but exciting day of activities. After breakfast the next day, the campers hiked back down to Camp Suisse in time for lunch before having a go at rock climbing in the afternoon.
The campers had two very busy days which was rounded off by the disco last night where they showed off their best dance moves and some very vibrant glow sticks which they bought from the Camp Suisse Tuck Shop!

Conyers get Cultural
Conyers continued their cultural visits with a trip to the French alpine village of Châtel, where they visited a farmers market, bought souvenirs and explored the what the historic attraction has to offer. Lunch was had by the lake in Châtel where campers got to dip their feet into the water and enjoy the beautiful mountain views. Afterwards, Conyers headed off to Monthey swimming pool, back in Switzerland where they had an afternoon of fun in the sun; jumping off diving boards and cooling off in the pool. Back at camp, dinner was followed by Torgona hunt – a scavenger hunt in the village square which required Conyers to test out their French language skills. Overall it was another great day of activities at Camp Suisse!

The Adventures of Geneva English School
After a lively night of singing campfire songs and roasting marshmallows over the fire at camping, the Year 6 students of GES set off on their hike back to the Camp Suisse centre. With songs and chants galore, they trooped back and made it to the centre just in time for lunch! It was great to see the positive effort that everyone put in, even if they found hiking difficult; it made for a lovely experience for the whole group.
After lunch on this scorcher of a day, half of the class did some archery and half took to the climbing wall. Again, it was so brilliant to see how everyone progressed during each session, from their first to last turns at climbing or shooting an arrow, and seeing such improvement in each student. All staff were so pleased with how hard the students of GES worked at each task they were given, and how they supported each other all the way through!!
After a lovely dinner, there was an intense game of Ultimate Camp Suisse Dodgeball, and then some yoga before bed!
All at Camp Suisse are looking forward to another action packed day with the kids of GES.

Conyers visit Evian
19th June 2018
Tuesday was another stunning day on the mountain. Conyers headed down the mountain and once again crossed the border into France with a visit to the famous town of Evian. They spent the morning wandering and exploring the beautiful town, bartering with locals at the farmers market and doing a French quiz. Afterwards, Conyers hopped onto a boat on Lake Geneva and crossed back into Switzerland, looking out at some incredible views of the passing mountains. The boat docked at Lausanne Ouchy, where they got ice cream and relaxed in the sun. Evening entertainment was a football match for those who still had energy, and movie night and got chocolate for the others. All in all another wonderful day at Camp Suisse!

Conyers: Mountain Treks & Lakeside Swims
18th June 2018
Conyers woke up to a foggy morning up at the camping lodge. After a hearty breakfast campers set off down the mountain back towards the centre. The next activity on the agenda was a trip to the local swimming pool! Villeneuve pool isn’t your average local pool. Located right on Lake Geneva, it commands stunning views and the children spent the afternoon relaxing and diving into the lake. Back in Torgon, evening entertainment was a first for Camp Suisse, with many Conyers students heading to the local restaurant to watch the England match, whilst others relaxed in the village park.
