Job description - Camp Suisse "Group Leader" Ages: 19+ Be dedicated to a small group of campers (4 to 7 kids) to mentor for each fortnightly period Personally mentor and lead your group - be the friend and guide of each individual Accompany your group on all activities and excursions, including encouraging and motivating them where necessary Offer feedback on the success and popularity of activities and the campers’ enjoyment of different events Enjoy yourself! Points to note: YOU as an individual will be one of the critical factors in ensuring that those campers in your care have an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. With the outstanding range of activities on offer this should be a pleasure. The work is both extremely good fun and very rewarding. It is helpful if you thrive in a busy environment as daily hours are long (from breakfast to evening). Personal requirements / characteristics: Camp Suisse group leaders need to have a positive attitude to work and a genuine interest in kids and young people. The ability to build a good rapport with children is important. You should have an open mind and be tolerant of all cultures, races and languages. Above all you should be a team player who is kind, caring, and great fun! It is helpful if you have experience with children, first aid training, and are keen on sports and the outdoors. Points to note: The essential element of all Camp Suisse sports programmes is to improve skills and confidence in each discipline; development and learning is essential. Sports and activities are delivered in a safe, controlled environment in a manner which is great fun for participants of all ages and which fosters real enthusiasm for the exercise. Points to note: You should take time off in your free hours and join the group on activities if you wish. You are actively encouraged to get involved with the campers and the staff who work directly with them. You are by no means ‘tucked away’ in the kitchen. This role presents you with an excellent introduction to Camp life and the team environment for a first time staff member. Points to note: This is a varied and interesting role which will give you a great overview of all elements of camp operations. You will have the opportunity to participate in activities with the groups. You are actively encouraged to get involved with the Campers and those staff who work directly with them. Points to note: You will be responsible for managing any medication belonging to Campers and administer it as required, including briefing group leaders and other contact staff on Campers’ medical requirements where appropriate. You will be available to attend to any accidents /illnesses in resort. Points to note: The most important skill is the ability to run the kitchen at service times in an organised and efficient manner. Food is simple and should be easy to prepare. There is a choice (made in the morning) of two starters and two main meals and most meals are ‘table service’. Points to note: The required photography consists of well colour-composed, strong, sharp and interesting photography with a big emphasis on quality (not holiday snaps of kids at camp). Photography of all the different activities should be emotive as well as documentary. You must be able to capture the essence of Camp through imagery in a non-evasive manner. It is essential that you can blend in with the group and interact well with Campers and staff. Points to note: Whilst our language programs are structured and set, it is essential that you can personalise your classes and make your classroom time unique to you. (Materials, books, games provided). It is essential that Campers make real, measurable progress from their course, particularly in areas of confidence in practical usage. Language Teachers must be university graduates teaching their native language but there are some classroom assistant positions available for those who do not meet these criteria.
