Camp Suisse is very proud to sponsor Suranna's Stepping Stone. Suranna is very close to our hearts and we would like you to read her story.

“My name is Suranna Louise Gleeson. I am 4 years old and I have Cerebral Palsy Diplegia which affects my legs and is caused by slight damage to the brain where the signals do not go from the brain to the muscles in my legs.

I can't walk without aid and therefore have a Kaye Walker to help me get around. I walk very high up on my toes and can't get my heels to the floor so I wear splints to help me do this.

My Mummy and Daddy have been made aware of an operation in America at St Louis Hospital in Missouri where Dr. Park performs an operation called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). He has performed this operation on over 2000 patients with 100 % success rate. The operation, in simple terms cuts the dead nerve endings away from the spine to allow the ones that do work to perform more effectively this will improve my posture and will enable me to get my feet flat to the floor which could help me walk without aid.

This operation is not available to me in the UK as the government and NHS do not fund this. Our goal is to raise enough money to get me, my mummy and daddy to America to have this operation. It will cost around £50,000 for the operation, travel, accommodation and physiotherapy.

Please help me by making a difference and donate to my Stepping Stone. You can visit my website www.surannassteppingstone.co.uk for more information."

Camp Suisse is aiming to raise £5,000 this summer to contribute towards Suranna's fund, through a variety of events and activities throughout the season. News on our progress will be posted regularly on our blog!
