DAY 1 - We arrived, via the stunning views of the Swiss Alps, unloaded and went to check on our accommodation. After a good, and much-needed night's sleep we were up early and ready to go. We spent the morning at the ‘Aquapark' (the largest water park in Europe) a mass of fun slides and pools. In the afternoon we returned to our chalet for tent and cooking practice and a short walk.

DAY 2 - We tackled the mountains. A coach took us to the halfway point and from there we hiked – all uphill – to a beautiful place called Lake Tanay , where we put up our tents. After a swim in the lake, various games and something to eat we sat round the fire and listened to some humorous stories, many thanks to Miss George for her rendition of ‘Cecil the caterpillar'.

DAY 3 - After a not-so-good night's sleep we cooked breakfast and packed up the tents ready for the downhill walk back to the coach, which took us to Lake Geneva for an amazing ride on banana boats and an afternoon lazing in the sun. Later we went to the Montreux jazz festival which was buzzing with stalls and live music.

DAY 4 - We returned to Lake Geneva , this time to go rafting! Originally we were to go snowboarding on a glacier but that fell through (I won't go into details). The rafting was a brilliant replacement. Later we went to the amazing Thermal Pools of Saillon where we chilled out and relaxed.

DAY 5 - Day 5 started with a lazy morning of sun bathing and swimming in the chalet's pool and, for the more active, a tennis tournament was set up. In the afternoon we visited the Olympic Museum at Lausanne, followed by a trip across Lake Geneva, crossing the border from Switzerland to Evian in France for the fireworks of Bastille Day. It was an incredible display – the best I have ever seen. Arriving back late back to our chalet we gate-crashed the other visiting school's disco and all danced the night away well into the early hours of the morning.

DAY 6 - Our final full day at Torgon. We went for one last walk up to the ski lift which took us to the top of the mountain, where we had lunch and took in the breath taking views.

Day 7 - For once we all had a good night's sleep in preparation for the long coach ride home. It was sad to leave, especially saying goodbye to our new friends the guides from the ski company who made sure we all had a brilliant time.

Finally, on behalf of everyone, I would like to say a big thank you to all the teachers who helped make it a very memorable trip with special thanks to Mr Blake and Mr Day for organising it all, we had an amazing time!
